I don't think I can explain how excited I am to start writing these posts. Spoiler: I'm very excited.

As you probably know, Josh and I got engaged at the end of April this year and so, we are starting to plan our wedding. At the moment, we have decided on 2021 which is the year after I graduate, but there's been no talk of particular dates yet. I've decided to document the wedding planning for the next 3 years all the way up to the big day, I don't know how frequent these posts are going to be and there will probably be lots more of them closer to the time but I wanted to begin documenting it from the very start. Let's talk about our initial thoughts on wedding planning.

let's start wedding planning

First, weddings are expensive. So expensive. We've already decided that we are going to have a more low key (even though it won't be low key because let's be honest, I'm too extra for that) wedding, so that we can have a more extravagant honeymoon but goodness, seeing some of these prices on a screen makes my heart break a bit.

In terms of venues etc, we are definitely going to have a church wedding followed by a reception somewhere. We aren't really sure what type of location we would like to have the reception at but that is something that I'm definitely looking forward to researching.

We've also decided that we want a Spring or Summer wedding. My first thought when we were talking about this was "oh my, what if my hay fever ruins it all?" - just in case you didn't know, hay fever is the bane of my life - but I'm just going to have to suck it up and be dosed up on anti histamine tablets because nothing is separating me from those beautiful pastel colours.

We haven't decided on any colours properly yet because obviously, it's still a while away but time goes so quickly. I have been putting together colour schemes but I definitely haven't found the perfect one yet. Josh is staying out of the colour decisions at the moment since the other night when we were talking about it, he just kept suggesting Autumnal colours. Let's just say, I don't think he is too bothered about the colours.

Just a little interjection here, I said that I'm going to get a horse and carriage, Josh rolled his eyes and is probably wondering why he agreed to marry such an extravagant person.

We've already had in depth conversations about the food as well. For those who know us, that will be of no surprise to you. I've also started thinking about the cake and let's just say, I am buzzing to go to cake tasting sessions. I can say one definite thing now, I am not having fruit cake. I don't understand why anyone would willingly eat fruit cake but that is not something that I want.

Pinterest. Pinterest has become the love of my life (sorry Josh). I spend way too long scrolling through, making the most in depth sections on each of my boards and now, my wedding board has every section from table decor to Bridesmaid gift ideas. If you're planning your wedding or you're nosey and want to see what I'm liking atm, definitely check out my Wedding board here.

As you can see, we haven't made masses of progress in our planning but this is what we are working with at the moment, plus a few other things that I'd like to keep a secret because believe it or not, I don't share my whole life on the internet.

What do you think of weddings? Let me know!
