Hi guys, it's Lauryn! Today, I decided to do something a little different because lately, I'm realising more and more just how messed up society is nowadays so I thought I would do a "letter to my 13 year old self", as you know I'm 18 in a couple of months so I want to give some advice to younger teenagers on how to get through the next few years. Let's begin...

Firstly, stop caring about what everyone thinks of you. If you want to like that band or that pair of shoes, that's up to you. It doesn't matter if your so called best friends think wrongly of you for it because now, at the age of 17, those people don't even exist in your life anymore - just do what makes you happy.

Pay more attention during school, it may not seem like it now but year 11 is going to be the busiest time of your life because you haven't done anything that you're supposed to this year. Make sure you keep on top of your work but also, don't listen to teachers when they tell you you're not capable - only you know how much you can achieve, push yourself to do what you can but don't push too hard that you get upset. At the end of the day, the grades on a piece of paper do not determine who you are but they will help so take it seriously. However, school only teaches you a small section about what is going to happen to you in years to come, remember to get outside more than you want to and experience things even if you're scared.

Being a teenager is hard. The next few years are not going to be easy but that doesn't mean that you can't get through them, focus on the people who are actually there for you and not the ones who you think are your friends but really, they don't invite you to anything and probably talk about you behind your back. Also, don't let the amount of likes you get on social media control how you feel about yourself because you're learning and growing. In a few years, you're going to look back on your posts and cringe anyway and just wonder what on earth you were doing.

Similarly, if a guy doesn't like you, it's not the end of the world. If you didn't stop worrying about all of the silly little boys back in year eight and nine, you would never have met your boyfriend now. Don't try and rush things, they will happen when they happen. So what if all of your friends have boyfriends, the truth is that now you are in a long term relationship and feeling so much better!

Don't let people tell you that you aren't "cool" because you aren't like the rest of the people your age. You don't want to be "cool" anyway, what even is cool? Be happy that you are yourself. Now, you have some great friends who appreciate you for who you are because you are finally being yourself. By the way, you're funny. Even if you're the only one who laughs at your jokes. Soon, people will realise and they will be laughing too because they will eventually accept you - even if it does take a long time, it'll totally be worth it!

People are going to tell you to stop wearing your make up in a certain way but don't listen to them because now, you have a beauty blog and own far more make up than you probably should but you're happy. If it wasn't for you loving make up now, you wouldn't have this interest in years to come. Don't let people take that away from you.

Most importantly, be happy; or the happiest that you can be.

After writing this, I wish I could go back and re do my teenage years but equally, I do not because they shaped me to be the person that I am today and for that, I am grateful!
