2 Years Of JustALittleBitOfLauryn...wow. It's just crazy that two years ago yesterday, I sat down to write on JustALittleBitOfLauryn for the first time and now I'm here, still loving blogging and learning more and more every day. Today, I'll be summing up what blogging has taught me in the past two years and how I plan to progress over the next year...

First, I recently decided to go self hosted which is something I've been contemplating doing for a few months so I'm glad that I finally decided to do so. Also, I hit 45,000 page views recently,  I'm just so happy with how this little blog is growing.

Don't worry about the length of the post

This is something I found particularly hard at first, I was constantly elongating posts in worry that they were too short but I realised that the post length really isn't that much of an important factor and honestly, I'm sure people would rather read a shorter post if it just got straight to the point for certain topics. Therefore, my post length definitely varies and that's ok. I do still really enjoy writing the rambly life update posts but I no longer feel pressured to make my posts a certain length.

Blogging friends are some of the best friends

Anyone that says that you shouldn't support other bloggers because they are your competition obviously do not fully understand blogging. The friends I've made through blogging are some of the best and being able to support these people in something that we mutually love is such a great thing. This year, I hope to make new blogger friends, catch up with old friends and just connect with other bloggers even more.

Scheduling tweets is a bore but it's so worth it

I use Buffer to schedule tweets daily and while actually scheduling them can be so incredibly tedious, it's such a worthwhile thing to do because you can definitely see such a large difference in my page views in days where I have scheduled tweets promoting posts compared to where I haven't. I also find that I have a lot more communication with fellow bloggers and other individuals when I promote my posts on social media.

Numbers aren't everything but they are still important

We can all say that the stats don't matter at all but they do for our own sense of achievement, at times and also, it's obvious that companies are going to want to work with people who do have that higher amount of page views. It's satisfying to see that amount go up but at the end of the day, it's not the be all end all of blogging and it's definitely not the reason that I am here.

You don't need to have a rigid blogging schedule

I know that for me personally, the idea of a blogging schedule used to really stress me out and I wouldn't be able to write because I felt pressured to write certain content but I learned that you don't need to necessarily have a schedule in order to do well. This year, I am going to be sticking to some sort of schedule maybe just to help structure blogging around my uni work but if I miss a post day, that's ok. Putting pressure on yourself usually results in content that you're just not happy with

The days that I have decided to post this year are Wednesday and Sunday every week starting in the next couple of weeks but due to other life commitments such as my uni deadlines and exams, I'm going to slowly ease myself into this schedule because else I'll just end up getting really frustrated with blogging again and I do not want that to happen.

But what do I plan on doing in the next year?

I went through a couple of months where I had fallen out of love with blogging at the end of last year. I didn't post as much as I wanted to because I just didn't feel like I was getting anywhere but my mindset has definitely changed now. I definitely want to progress a lot more throughout 2018 and learn lots more Blogging skills along the way.

I plan on posting more this year, with a wider range of content. I want to post more beauty related posts when I can as well as more photo diaries because these are some of my favourite things to do. I want to have a diverse range of content that I'm proud of, something that I don't feel like I have to write just because I have a schedule. I've definitely become a lot more organised with blogging lately and I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes me

I'm also hoping to invite more guest bloggers onto JustALittleBitOfLauryn this year. I have had a couple in the past and I'm looking to have some more so if you're interested, please feel free to email me. I really like the idea of guest blogging because it's interesting to look at different peoples styles of writing and plus it gives people a break from my rambling.

The past couple of weeks, I have become a lot more serious about blogging than I was before and I'm hoping that this year, I am able to extend my writing opportunities and hopefully work with more companies and brands in order to share new and exciting content.

I also hope to run a giveaway at some point in the next couple of months as well as working on my art work and hopefully setting up an Etsy shop, like I talked about in my 2018 goals post. I'm slowly putting together a full blogging plan which I may post about when it's finalised but there's definitely some exciting things happening around here.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read JustALittleBitOfLauryn. Whether it's one post that you've read or all of them, the fact that people take time out of their day to read my posts is something that I really love and am thankful for.

What type of content do you want to see more of this year?
